The POINT is sending eight students and three leaders to New York City on July 17 until July 25 to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in the most diverse city in the world.
Why is this important? Because Jesus is important. There are millions of people in New York City who don't have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our calling to be faithful to share this most important truth with a lost city. So we have taken the challenge to send out our own to NYC and help people in a number of different ways.
Three of our missionaries will be involved with Vacation Bible School at Brooklyn Tabernacle in NYC. This mission is focused on the children, mostly unchurched children. There will be plenty of opportunities to be a picture of Jesus Christ to so many children and also opportunities to share the gospel with them.
Eight of our missionaries will be involved in Steets and Parks. This mission involves a prayer station in which people will approach the prayer station asking for prayer for a number of different things. Our goal is to pray for their needs and if God opens a door to share the gospel, we will do so. The other aspect of Steets and Parks is a spiritual questionaire. We will be walking the steets and the parks to ask people if they are willing to answer a few questions. If so, we ask them the spiritually provoking questions and hopefully God gives us an opportunity to share the gospel with these individuals.
All of this is done only by the power of the Holy Spirit within us. One sows, another reaps, but God gives the increase. We live by Paul's statement! And another...I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. We live and breathe by the confidence we have been given in Christ! Please pray for us as we venture to grow spiritually and share the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost city!

"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
-1 Corinthians 15:57
Sad? Beat? Tired? Miserable? Defeated? Well, here comes the good news for you: YOU HAVE VICTORY IN JESUS CHRIST!!! There are so many things in our lives that can get us down. Our parents, school, sports, friends, work, struggles, strife, pain, loss and many others. Though some of these can be good things in our lives, they can also have some damaging affects. The key to overcoming the pain of our problems and our sin is to KNOW that we have victory! It's not as though we don't have any more problems in life after we achieve victory in Jesus Christ by trusting in Him for our salvation. It almost seems that when we do believe, the problems can become worse. However, the key is to KNOW.
Always remember in the midst of problems that we have a Hope. Our hope is that Jesus has conquered our sin on the cross and we have victory because of Him. When the New Testament writers used the word "hope", they didn't use it the way we do today. It was a statement of assurance. Their hope was their complete and accurate assurance of their salvation in Jesus Christ and looking foward to His return and eternal life with Him. So, when life gets you down, think of the Hope you have in Jesus Christ. Knowing that all your problems here will be gone one day when we are in paradise with Him. All this, because He has conquered our sin and overcome death through His resurrection and we too share in His victory!
No longer do you have to feel defeated. You have victory in Jesus. No longer do you have to bare the weight of your sin. You have victory in Jesus. No longer do you have to worry. You have victory in Jesus. No longer are you dead. You have victory in Jesus! Praise Jesus for His victory!

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."
-Romans 10:4
I want to focus on a ONE word here. You might be thinking, "Christ" is the word he will focus on. Though Christ is the center and focus of this text, it is the word, "end" that draws the attention to Jesus Christ. The greek word for end is telos. The greek word telos has a much deeper meaning than we catch at first glance. Telos literally means "end goal". So as we reflect on our christian walk and consider our perspective on Christ and His placement or priority in our lives, we must ask the question: Is Jesus Christ our end goal? The context of this verse is that Christ is the end purpose of the law in order that He might fulfill the law and give us freedom from the law through His grace and free gift according to Romans 3:21-26.
Every action you make and every thing you do should have Jesus Christ and His glory at the end. We should strive through this life with Christ in sight as the reward for our labor. He should be the purpose behind everything we do and the purpose for our life. He should encompass all things in our life. Colossians 1:15-20 says that Jesus Christ is completely in control of ALL things. The word "all" is used 7 times in that text. If He is completely in control of all things and is sovereign over all, then why do we ignore His presence or His priority in our lives?
My encouragement is that we begin to prioritize our life. Jesus comes first so that He may become our telos, our end goal.
